I just regrettably observed my lady vols go down to a very stout defensive Georgia. I taking nothing from Georgia, who stuck with their style, but I question Tennessee's identity. Gosh, this is really becoming all to familiar and I'm sure it will continue as Tennessee's opponents study game film. Put the ball in the guards' hands and stop Tennessee. Stanford exposed the great indecision, of course along with their potent offense in putting Tennessee away, Vandy made a tremendous comeback in focusing on board-play and forcing offense through the guards, and now this! I've followed Tennessee a very long time (thru their championships in the '90s, their bouts with UConn, and their continued success in the last decade) and I've never quite seen a team struggle so much with identity issues through questionable guard play. I mean really, who is the point guard? Bjorkman is an excellent shooter but does not possess the foot speed to truly penetrate and dish or even get her own shot and Strickland, though a very good athlete is clearly struggling with this new role. Hence, both will continue to slow the game down in trying to navigate through packed in defenses committed to shutting down post players and rebounding and turnover ratios will continue to mount! This latest version of filling this 1-spot by committee will be exposed by the tougher, higher-echelon teams and while I don't believe Tennessee will be eliminated in the first round like last year, I do think they'll be watching the final-four instead of participating in it - shucks!
